Frequently asked questions

Do voters need to create an account?
No account is required. Voters submit and upvote with just their email address - a one-click verification link confirms the action. Returning voters can optionally sign in with a passwordless magic link to see My activity across sessions.
What is a project?
A project is your public customer hub. Each project gets its own URL at [slug].productdesk.dev with toggleable tabs for feedback, roadmap, waitlist, changelog, blog, docs, help, and more. Enable the tabs you need in project settings.
Can I have multiple products on one account?
Yes. The Hobby plan ($1/month) supports 1 project. Starter supports up to 3 projects. Pro supports unlimited projects - all under one account.
How is the roadmap built?
The roadmap is a kanban view of your feedback posts - not a separate list. Promote user feedback to Planned, In Progress, or Completed and it appears on the roadmap automatically. You can also add planned work directly from the dashboard Roadmap page. The public Feedback tab defaults to Open requests only.
Can I use my own domain for the public board?
Pro plans can map a custom subdomain (e.g. feedback.yourproduct.com) to your public board. Add a CNAME pointing to boards.productdesk.dev; SSL is handled automatically. You can use up to 10 custom domains across your projects (one per project). Default boards stay at [slug].productdesk.dev.
Is there a feedback widget?
Yes. Pro plans include an embeddable feedback widget: add a script tag to your site and identify logged-in users with a server-signed HMAC so they can submit feedback without leaving your app.
What happens to my data if I downgrade?
Your data is never deleted on a downgrade. If you exceed the new plan's project limit, you'll see a warning in the dashboard and won't be able to create new projects until you upgrade or delete extras. Existing projects stay fully editable.
